Styrotek produces expandable polystyrene produce containers. The benefits of the container are as follows: strength of container allows for sturdy stacking in cold storage, light weight allows easy handling, insulation ability maintains fruit temperature, no moisture absorption allowing for longer periods in cold storage without effecting fruit quality, price competitive with wood and plastic boxes, and the container can be recyclable or reused.
The material Styrotek uses to make its boxes is called expandable polystyrene (EPS). This material is a rigid cellular plastic, derived from petroleum products. All Styrotek containers fit on a 48" X 40" pallet (see pallet design) and consist of the following dimensions:
